Forgiveness is not weakness. It is not forgetting. It is not pretending that harm never happened. In the teachings of MAAT, forgiveness is the work of lightening the heart so we can walk in truth, balance, harmony, and divine order. It is how we keep our hearts from becoming heavy with the weight of old pain—pain that blocks our blessings, dims our spirit, and keeps us tied to the past.
Many of us carry memories that still sting. Situations that bring up anger, sadness, or disappointment. We often move on physically, but emotionally those moments remain alive in our bodies. The work of MAAT invites us to go back—gently, intentionally—and reassess those moments through a higher lens.
Cry if you need to, scream, journal. Sit with the memory without running from it. Allow yourself to feel it fully so you can release it fully. This is not regression, this is cleansing. As the pain rises, so does the opportunity to transform it.
And once the emotion has been honored, look for the lesson.
Ask yourself:
What did this experience teach me?
How did it shape the person I am today?
What strength, clarity, or wisdom came from this?
You may realize that without that experience, you wouldn’t have the insight, the discipline, or the purpose you carry now. When you shift your perspective, the situation stops being a wound and becomes a teacher. THIS TAKES TIME. Give yourself permission to move at your own pace.
Forgiving Yourself Comes First
We often skip this part, but it is essential.
Forgive yourself for the things you allowed, the choices you made, the cycles you stayed in, and the moments you didn’t know better. Self-forgiveness opens the door for peace.
Then comes forgiving others—not to excuse them, but to free your spirit. Forgiveness does not mean reconnection, trust, or access. It means releasing the heavy emotional charge that stays in your body and your vibration.
Holding onto anger, fear, resentment, or worry locks us into the same energetic patterns. We end up attracting the same situations, the same lessons, the same pain. When we release the cycle, we open the way for newness.
A Light Heart Is a Peaceful Life
When your heart is light, you can finally see your life—even the difficult parts—as being in divine order. Even the experiences you didn’t understand were shaping your path. Everything is part of the universal flow.
We cannot control the world around us, but we can control our response, our perspective, and our healing. And as each of us heals individually, our community heals collectively.
A light heart radiates peace, clarity, and goodness. It attracts blessings. It makes space for joy. It allows us to move through life without re-living every old wound.
The Power of True
Real forgiveness is when you can speak about a situation with no emotional charge. No anger. No hurt. Just understanding. Just wisdom.
This is the moment your spirit becomes free.
Our community has endured generations of trauma and struggle, and without healing, we continue to repeat those patterns. But when we choose forgiveness, when we release negative thinking and break old habits, we open ourselves to wellness—spiritually, mentally, and physically.
Forgiveness is liberation.
Forgiveness is MAAT.
Forgiveness is the path to a lighter, more intentional life.
